I was approached by a woman who works with my husband to draw her in-laws for their 60th wedding party. In the photo the heads were 1/2" big and this photo was painted (looked like the bride had mascara and I don't think they used that 60 years ago! ).
This is 8x10, Bristol Smooth, mechanical pencils.
I found many challenges in this with the small ref photo...couldn't clearly see the glasses, noses...etc. On a happy note, the client LOVED this and can't wait to show it off and give it away at the party.
Well, you did an amazing job!! I wouldn't have taken this challenge if it were me! I'd go blind!!! So hats off to ya for doing this and succeeding!!!!! YOU GO GIRL!!!
Thanks Chad! I learned a lot from it...never take a photo like this again...LOL! Now it's off to work on my "fun" project. I'm doing it twice- once on Bristol Smooth and one on Bristol Vellum. I thought it would be fun to play with new paper!
Beautiful work, Michelle! I think you did a wonderful job. 1/2 inch isn't much help as reference, but you overcame the obstacles by using what you know as an artist. Her nose and eye areas look perfect!
What a wonderful drawing-- they must be quite happy with it...
Don't think this is just another news article with the usual love deviations that have already hundreds of favorites! All of these deviations don't have even 100 favorites & they're the best!
Please watch them closely and show your appreciation! @
In this article I will provide you some ideas how you can build your own homestudio for considerably cheaper price than it would cost to use "official" studio gear. I will also show you few examples where I have used the gear I describe during this article.
`karemelancholia is one of the most genuine deviants you could ever met. Always active and a true deviantART cheerleader and supporter in every aspect. You can always count on her to lend a hand or get involved, and you usually will find her doing large amounts of both at any given moment. She's consistently reports on contests around dA, showcases the efforts of her fellow artists and shows her charitable side through various activities. Besides all of this, she's a truly talented artist which is why she's an obvious choice for deviousness this month. Read More
